Power Outage

If the power goes out, don't worry! It is quite common here in Siena for the electricity to go out for a few hours during thunderstorms.

Emergency lights will come on in the common areas of your apartment.
Running water: because the water supply is softened, the water may stop coming from some taps when the electricity is out. Don't worry! The kitchen taps have either two mixers with one spout or two separate taps. In either case, one of them is direct mains water, meaning it comes directly from the council main water supply and will continue to work even during a power outage. It is safe to drink, so don't worry!
Unfortunately, hot water will not be available, as the boilers require electricity to operate.

First, check whether the power outage is affecting only your apartment.

The electrical panel with all the switches is usually located near the entrance. If one of the switches is off, simply switch it back on.

Not all apartments have the main electrical panel near the entrance. If you cannot find it, first check outside the window or on the landing, to see whether the problem affects the entire Casale or just your apartament.

If it seems that the rest of the Casale has electricity but your apartment does not, and you cannot find the electrical panel near the entrance, call Giotto using the assistance number provided below.

Check if the outage is a disruption depending on the Electricity company !
