In these places, those interested have the opportunity to express and share their passion for agriculture, allowing them not only to grow their own produce but also to create a place for gathering and cultural exchange, fostering new social relationships.
These activities offer physical and psychological benefits to combat work-related stress and, why not, increase their productivity thanks to positive contact with nature.
At CasaLeTolfe, we also have a shared garden cultivated by CasaLeTolfe residents, created with the aim of promoting socialization and nutrition education.
Over time, our initial vision has expanded, and we have designated a portion of the garden's land as an “edible garden”, a green space where ornamental and edible plants are grown together, following principles of sustainability and self-production. This type of garden mimics a natural ecosystem, such as a forest, to create a self-sufficient environment capable of producing food and other useful goods.
Integrating edible plants into the garden enriches the diet with nutrients and trace elements, stimulates the senses, and creates a deeper connection with nature.
In essence, an edible garden is more than just a vegetable garden, but a complex system that aims to create an environment rich in biodiversity, self-sufficient, and enjoyable to live in.
